The position is technically a step down from my current level and requires a high level skillset primarily because all of their equipment is so effing outdated and janky that they need someone with the knowledge base and ability to build an entirely new network while keeping the current mondo broken one up.
But, seriously, when I walked into the server room, my eyes popped open in the way that they only can when you see some kind of God-awful monstrosity that gives you the immediate urge to run away as fast as you humanly possibly can.

Sort of like the time I got a very bad case of impetigo on my face, and the first words out of the young ER intern's mouth were, "Oh my God." Not what you want to hear from your doctor. Those Gene Wilder GIFs are fantastic.

Just treat it like a challenge. Built a network that only you will be able to manage thus providing yourself job security.

most importantly.
if you take this on as the challenge of your career..
do this:
ask them how much money they budget for equipment.
you will be a miserable bastid if you take on the challenge and are NOT provided the tools/funding to make things better.
